World Car-Free Day and World Tourism Day Bike Tour 🚴 Guided and Free — Tour of Antigua Guatemala and Ciudad Vieja Welcome to all families and friends who will join us to commemorate World Car-Free Day and World Tourism Day. Bicycles solve mobility problems and boost community-based tourism. Both of these effects generate economic, human, and environmental development. That's why we need to invest in building the appropriate infrastructure. BICIRUTA 502 is a national project that allows us to connect the dots and link Guatemala through a new form of mobility: a lightweight infrastructure dedicated to bicycles. BICIRUTA 502 allows us to travel differently, at a different pace, awakening our senses. Perceiving the climate, the smells, and the colors of the landscape. Promoting closer contact with communities and their people. Allowing us to enjoy the unique experiences and adventures that each place offers. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 👉 THIS IS A BIKE RIDE — it's free and space is limited. Date: Sunday, September 27th. Time: 7:30 AM. Meeting Point: Central Park, Antigua Guatemala. Distance: ~13 km · beginner level. Ride Info: It's completely free. We'll have mechanical assistance, paramedics, guides, and BiciRuta 502 Ambassadors, as well as support from the Municipal Traffic Police (PMT) and Fire Department. Parking: For those traveling from outside Sacatepéquez, there will be several parking areas on the streets near the starting point. You must pay for the parking permit. We recommend organizing yourselves and arriving in as few cars as possible. Children over 12 years old with cycling experience are welcome to participate, provided they are accompanied by a parent. Estimated ride time: 2 to 3.5 hours maximum. What to bring: • Helmet (mandatory) • Mountain bike in good condition (the route includes sections of cobblestone, gravel dirt, and asphalt) • Spare inner tubes • Water bottle or hydration pack • Sunscreen • Rain jacket or poncho in case of rain • Change to support the local economy at points along the route Please note that this is a recreational ride: it is not a long-distance race or competition. We will ride at a moderate pace, as we will be joined by children, teenagers, and beginner cyclists. The purpose of this ride is to enjoy the points of interest along the route. IMPORTANT: At various points along the route and at the main hub, we will be filming, using drones, and taking photographs to create material that promotes bicycle tourism in the area. In addition to the ride, we will have cultural and musical activities on a stage. The estimated end time for all activities is 3:00 PM. * If you don't have a bike, you can contact the following companies through their social media: - RIDING GUATE - DIRECT ADVENTURE - MINIMOTORS - CA TRAVELERS to rent a bike in advance for Q 125.00. GUATERIDE rents electric bikes for Q 200; you can contact them through social media to reserve. IMPORTANT: There will be no bike rentals available at the park on Sunday, September 27th. All rentals must be booked in advance! We reserve the right to change the route if the organizing committee decides to do so due to traffic or cyclist safety issues. The registration form will be open until Saturday, September 26th at 6:00 PM or until the participation limit is reached.
